While the government
and the country, as a whole, are looking at creative ways
to recover from the current recession, such
as tax deductible vacations, some are asking what happened
to the companies that pulled the economy into prosperity in
the late nineties. Specifically, what is the future of e-commerce?
Will it make a comeback and if so, when and what form is it
likely to take?
David Clements, producer of the "Be Connected" Series
on technology takes a look at what the web does and doesn't
do well for e-commerce and some of the new trends we'll likely
see in web marketing.
The
New Paridigm in e-commerce has arrived, but will it be the
answer to our prayers? "Experiential E-Commerce",
as the name implies, is how the business world is attempting
to create an entire shopping experience on-line. More than
just simple descriptions and pictures, Experiential E-Commerce
uses virtual reality to bring the shopper closer to the product
than ever before. Companies such as Miacomet
and Radica have
made the video game experience more real than ever before.
Could this kind of technology do the same for shopping too?
Professor
José Rosa of Case
Western Reserve University shares with us his findings
in his newest
paper (you may want to rt. click and save the .pdf file
as it is large) on the psychological side of E-Commerce and
how some of the virtual reality techniques could help or hinder
our understanding of the products and services that companies
want to sell.
