You may have
heard about the push to get fuel cell technology working in
automobiles, because of their potential
as a clean efficient power source. However, a company called
Plug Power is working to get their fuel cell technology working
in residential homes. Even in the birthplace of hydroelectric
power, Niagara Falls, NY, Plug Power and National Fuel, believe
that they have a chance to supply clean electricity even cheaper
than the grid. David Clements, producer of the “Be Connected”
series reports.

Update:
Joe Seigrist has released information on his home fuel
cell for all to see. Mr. Seigris's fuel cell usage
statistics for the month of July are available here in
Microsoft's Excel format.
Here
is a portion of the email that he sent to detail his progress.
"...I have attached a spreadsheet
for the month of July for the unit you saw at my house. The
demonstration unit is running fine ( my July electric bill
was $20.22 - most of the $s for the service charge! ). Please
note that the unit is rated at 5kW (kilowatts). I have elected
to run it at 2.5 kW (kilowatts) due to the load requirement
of my house."
